Dear Komako Sakai,

The Snow DayIt seems like you just leapt into my brain and pulled out memories of what snow days were like for me as a child.  Staying home with Mom, getting bundled up to play outside, waiting for Daddy to come home and knowing he was probably stuck in traffic somewhere between our house and New Jersey….  The text of The Snow Day is lovely in its simplicity, and it has that same quiet feeling that a snowy landscape does.  And don’t even get me started on the art–it’s beautiful.  Tender and evocative and calm, and some of the sweetest bunnies I’ve seen in a while.   Five enthusiastic snowflake-shaped stars!
