The main word to describe Truancy is “cookie-cutter.” The plot, the characters, the dialogue and the descriptive passages are palpably standard–all the elements one learns to use when learning to write, but without the spontaneity and realism that comes with writing experience and trial-and-error. Not surprising, considering you were 15 when you wrote the book–and given that, it’s well done. You’ve got talent, but I think you don’t know how to use it yet. I’ll be interested to read something you write ten or fifteen years from now–there’s certainly potential. Three stars for now, with the hope that in a handful of years, you’ll write something awesome that I can get completely behind.
Love,
